Hello Parents,

GCPS has approved the installation of a cell phone tower between Parsons Elementary and Peachtree Ridge High School. Parents were not notified beforehand. We learned about it only two days before the December 18th school board meeting, and during that meeting the board voted to move forward.

GCPS has stated that the tower is necessary for safety, but we believe the community deserves to see the data supporting that claim. There are well‑documented concerns about potential health effects from cell towers, and it’s reasonable to ask why our children should be exposed without meaningful community input.  GCPS often emphasizes transparency, yet this decision was made without notifying families even though it could directly affect our children’s well‑being.

GCPS Board will be held on Wed, March 18 at 7:00 PM at Board Room at the Instructional Support Center, located at 437 Old Peachtree Road in Suwanee. We strongly encourage everyone to attend and share their concerns. For those unable to be there in person, we have included an online petition. Please sign it and share it with others in the Peachtree Ridge Cluster.

Both in‑person participation and petition signatures are important as we show GCPS that our community does not support placing this tower at our local schools.

Thank you!

Email to the GCPS Board

Dear Members of the School Board,

We are writing as concerned parents, staff, and community members regarding the proposed cell tower at Peachtree Ridge High School.

We are troubled both by the lack of transparent communication surrounding this proposal and by the potential health implications of placing a cell tower in such close proximity to our children and school staff. Regardless of differing studies, many families are not comfortable with continuous exposure to radio frequency emissions directly on campus. Our students and educators spend long hours at school  their safety must come first.

Schools should prioritize well-being above convenience or financial arrangements. If improved cell service is needed, we strongly urge the board to pursue an alternate location at a safer distance from classrooms and athletic areas.

We respectfully ask that you choose a solution that protects our children and staff.
